The Home Team

Landon Penney and Ryan Penney in the Dominican Republic with youth baseball players in June 2025

The History

Brothers Landon and Ryan Penney founded Home2First to give every kid a chance to play baseball—regardless of their financial situation. Baseball has always been central to their lives, teaching them confidence, character, and community.

Their inspiration came from Coach Jorge Minyety, a Dominican Republic native and Scottsdale Heat coach, whose passion sparked their desire to make a difference. After a 2021 trip to the Dominican Republic, where they saw kids playing with heart but little equipment, they launched Home2First to help break financial barriers and open the game to more young athletes.

The Co-Founders

Landon is a rising sophomore at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., studying Business and playing as a two-way student-athlete (left-handed pitcher/outfielder) for the Cardinals in the Landmark Conference.

Ryan recently graduated from Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, and will begin his freshman year at Princeton University in Fall 2025. He’ll be studying Economics and competing as a right-handed pitcher for the Tigers in the Ivy League.

Through Home2First, they aim to grow the game and its values—teamwork, resilience, and friendship—for kids who need it most.
